By the person making an ADRT they are contributing to their own Advance Care Planning in a positive and empowering way.
This will ensure that when they are unable to communicate their decisions through loss of capacity, all care provided to them is appropriate to their wishes.

The person might obtain:
  • Personal / Patient Empowerment  and Satisfaction
  • Preferred Place of Care
  • Preferred mechanism to manage predicted health, social and spiritual needs
  • Preferred mechanism of death eg no resuscitationPrevention of some issues for relatives / carers during bereavement
  • The professionals involved in delivering care to a person who had an ADRT will obtain:
  • Professional satisfaction by delivering holistic care.
